Bridgehead is Raising Funds for Parkinson's UK

Image
It seems that not a single day goes by when there isn’t an exciting fundraising event taking place in one of our branches or an ambitious plan in the pipeline. This can certainly be said for our Bridgehead offices right now, as they’re in the middle of organising activity that requires plenty of drive, resilience and physical strength: the Three Peaks Challenge. Abbie Steel is a reprographics operator, originally beginning her career at SGS Packaging Europe as an apprentice three years ago before successfully gaining her full-time permanent role: “I love the technicality of my job and having to work to specifications. The thing I like most about the company is the people within it, as everyone is very supportive towards one another and will happily give up time to help anyone with anything.” Abbie was recently approached by site manager Mark Hooley, who said that a few people at Bridgehead had been wanting to do the Three Peaks Challenge for a long time and it

Our Apprentices Go Above and Beyond to Support the Local Community

Reflecting our commitment to helping young people to enter a fulfilling career, SGS Packaging Europe runs a structured apprenticeship programme at our offices in The Maltings and Bridgehead. Taking the form of clear responsibilities combined with in-house training, one-to-one mentoring and regular development days, apprentices also manage a number of community projects. This combination of focus areas aids them in gaining in-depth expertise that applies to their roles, as well as valuable life skills. As part of their community involvement, our apprentices have chosen four charities to support throughout 2019. Together they’ve planned a number of activities that will raise awareness and funds for very worthy causes: Hull Homeless Community Project (HHCP), Yorkshire Cancer Research, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, and Aaron’s Cancer Battle. This series of exciting events begins in February, initially asking for donations that will be passed on to HHCP. The purpose of th

Bridgehead is Collecting Gifts and Food for Dove House Hospice

The Listening Group at our Bridgehead office discusses numerous topics, giving team members the opportunity to pitch ideas and organise exciting activity. This week they're running a charity event for Dove House Hospice, which invites staff to bring in any surplus items left over from Christmas. Whilst it really is the thought that counts, people often receive gifts that they simply won't use, or buy a little too much food that goes against their New Year's resolution to keep fit and improve their diet. With this in mind, you can donate all kinds of items to this collection, including: Unwanted gifts, such as toiletry sets, new clothing, knick-knacks, and anything else that can be given a new home Christmas goodies that are proving too tempting, like boxes of chocolates, biscuits, crackers, and other foods that's unopened and still in date These items are being collected until Friday 25th January, when there will be a raffle and

An Interview with Accounts Director and Artist Wayne Peachey

Image
Wayne Peachey is an Accounts Director at our offices in Tamworth. Whilst busy on a range of projects during the week, in his spare time he’s a thriving artist whose work is currently on display at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea. We caught up with him to find out a little more about his creative passion. Wayne has had an interest in art from an early age. Inspired by his grandfather, he took up oil painting as a teen and very much enjoyed working with the medium. Deciding to enhance his skills, he went to art college before training as a graphic designer and moving into computer graphics. A busy and successful career can take up a lot of time, so it’s great to hear that Wayne returned to painting a few years ago and commits many hours to focusing on each piece he creates. This, he says, is a satisfying contrast to the immediacy that technology brings in other areas of his life. “I love impressionism for the colours and because subjects are described
