Tamworth Colleague is Raising Funds for Bowel Cancer UK

Hannah Johnson is a Senior Account Manager at our Tamworth branch who is taking on a demanding physical challenge in aid of a very worthy cause. She, her mum and some friends are going to attempt the Yorkshire Three Peaks on Sunday 13 April, which involves a 24-mile walk up and down three mountains within just twelve hours. Hannah and her group are raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK and would really appreciate any donations toward supporting the essential research that the organisation invests into this disease: “ My dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year through the screening programme,” says Hannah. “It was a really tough time for the family and the first time we have had to go through something like this. The team of doctors and nurses that looked after him were incredible, so I wanted to do something to give a little back to them.” Hannah chose the Three Peaks specifically because she wanted a genuine challenge: “ I googled things that could

Colleagues are Preparing for the Hull 10K and Half Marathon

Last summer, multiple team members from our Maltings, Bridgehead and Citadel offices took part in the fantastic Hull 10K and Half Marathon, raising £1,315 for their chosen charities by committing spare time and tons of effort to a fun and friendly fitness challenge. This year’s double event takes place on Sunday 2nd June, which will once again see thousands of runners of all abilities hit the streets to beat their personal bests whilst fundraising for all kinds of worthy causes. The three organisations that our colleagues are fundraising for are Macmillan Cancer Research, The British Heart Foundation and William’s Fund. JustGiving pages have been set up for anyone who wants to donate to Macmillan and BHF , and don’t forget to tick the box for Gift Aid too, as this will allow the charities to claim an additional 25% without you having to pay an extra penny. Meanwhile, donations to William’s Fund will be passed direct to the charity, so SGS Packaging Europe employees can ha

Our Apprentices Transformed a Home for a Woman in Need

The SGS Apprentice Community Projects are in full swing, with our apprentices at Bridgehead and The Maltings organising a range of activity. So far this year their fundraising has taken the form of selling bags of Valentine’s Day sweets and running a promise auction, which together raised over £400 for four very worthy causes. To give the apprentices full ownership over their community projects, last year they were tasked with choosing which charities would benefit from a programme of events that they design, manage and deliver themselves. These charities are Hull Homeless Community Project (HHCP), Yorkshire Cancer Research, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Aaron’s Battle, with the most recent activity being the decorating of a property for HHCP. Last Wednesday, fifteen apprentices met the CEO of the organisation, Andrew Smith, at a one bedroom flat with a kitchen, bathroom and large lounge that needed plenty of creativity and elbow grease. After an initial
