To celebrate Valentine's Day, a few of our offices organised a range of activity. In Hull, the apprentices made bags of Love Hearts, foam hearts and marshmallows, which they then sold for £1.50 each to their colleagues. These have been snapped up very quickly and we expect them to raise £150, with all proceeds going to the apprentices' four chosen charities for 2019: Hull Homeless Community Project, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Aaron's Battle. There are many more events to come over the next few months, all of which are being planned and implemented by these enthusiastic young trainees. Meanwhile, over at Bridgehead, a Fake It or Bake It Cake Day was organised to raise funds for British Heart Foundation. All kinds of cakes and buns were spread out in the kitchen area and everyone was encouraged to wear something red, from a tie or belt to an entire outfit. This year our apprentices in The Maltings and Bridgehead have chosen four charities that will benefit from fundraising activities, volunteering sessions and brand advocacy: Hull Homeless Community Project (HHCP), Yorkshire Cancer Research, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Aaron's Battle. The first community project for HHCP began on Monday 4th February, with the apprentices placing collection bins in the canteens and encouraging all of their colleagues to donate essential items. To make this easier for everyone, they recommended that fellow employees add one extra item to their basket or trolley each time they go shopping. This way it has minimal effect on the weight of the groceries and the total of the bill, yet it has an enormous positive impact to how the charity operates. These items will be used by HHCP as part of its Move On project, which helps individuals and families who have been victims of homelessness to transition into independent living. Some colleagues from our Bridgehead and Maltings offices are working on secondment in our Diadeis branch in Mauritius. This gives them incredible opportunities to work in a totally different environment with some amazing people, also taking part in a range of events that benefit the local community and further enhance the premises. Sylvain Rey is a trainer based at Diadeis,  whose role is to guide newcomers and help them to discover the joys of being a professional packaging operator. Sylvain has been with the company for ten years and has enjoyed seeing it grow and develop around him, with teams working on high-profile projects for  Casino, Nestlé, Danone, L'Oréal and many other global brands. When people join Diadeis, they undertake an eight-week training programme before moving into the production department.
