Diadeis Trainees Transform their Environment

Some colleagues from our Bridgehead and Maltings offices are working on secondment in our Diadeis branch in Mauritius. This gives them incredible opportunities to work in a totally different environment with some amazing people, also taking part in a range of events that benefit the local community and further enhance the premises.

Sylvain Rey is a trainer based at Diadeis, whose role is to guide newcomers and help them to discover the joys of being a professional packaging operator. Sylvain has been with the company for ten years and has enjoyed seeing it grow and develop around him, with teams working on high-profile projects for Casino, Nestlé, Danone, L'Oréal and many other global brands.

When people join Diadeis, they undertake an eight-week training programme before moving into the production department. This is specially designed to introduce them to the company, improve their skills, remove any worries, and give them all of the resources they need to excel in their work. The training process is also an excellent chance to give new colleagues insight into our company culture.

Sylvain decided to deliver this to the latest intake of talent in a very innovative way: “We're trying to brighten the place up here and one of the ideas was to paint some of the walls,” he tells us. “It’s a good team building exercise for the trainees, as it combines creativity and fun whilst also being a great way to get to know each other. At the end, they’ve worked as a team to create something that transforms the working environment and will be around for many years to come.”

Alongside Sylvain, the trainees who added their impressive artistic skills to the mural are:

·      Kai, Operator at Philips
·      Reshad, Operator at Nestlé Spain
·      Nickel, Operator at Evian
·      Tatyana, Operator at Mondelez
·      Loïc, Operator at GSK
·      Olivier, Operator at Nestlé France
·      Reeya, Operator at Kellogg’s
·      Diken, Operator at Nestlé France
·      Diksha, Operator at Purina

The beautifully colourful and mesmerising painting is based in the waiting room, so it’s the first thing that Diadeis colleagues see when arriving at work, as well as a vibrant welcome for people visiting the premises. The initial design was created by Diksha, who was given the brief to paint something wild. The trainees then spent several hours turning it into a reality whilst also taking their training, showing brilliant commitment and true team spirit.

“Team building is very important,” says Sylvain. “I want everyone to feel happy at work, and if you don’t feel comfortable with your team you won’t be able to communicate any problems and difficulties. Being familiar with each other helps everyone to succeed. We all have so much to learn and motivation is key – I don't believe that competition is the best way, as so much more can be achieved through collaboration.”

There’s all kinds of interesting activity taking place across SGS Packaging Europe’s offices, so make sure to keep up to date by following us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
