Susan Tompkins is a Project Manager at our office in The Maltings. She has two greyhounds, Snoopy who is five and Skyler aged seven, who she says are couch potatoes and can sleep for around twenty hours a day but are always up for a walk. To combine some exercise with raising money for a good cause, the three of them are taking part in Flash’s Memorial Walk, organised by Greyhound Trust Humber. “Flash was one of the trust’s dogs that had health issues and sadly died three years ago,” says Susan. “There are branches of the Greyhound Trust all over the country and they rescue thousands of dogs each year from the racing industry. He’s been with SGS Packaging Europe for over ten years, which means that he has tons of invaluable experience and really knows what makes the company tick. “I came from an engineering background,” says Scott, “so now working in a clean environment at SGS that’s warm and dry is a lot different to the dark, old, rusty, cold, oily workshops that once were my daily workplace. Claire Ordine and Neil Thompson who work in our Bridgehead office also ran the race. I found myself thinking I could do that too, and soon after was putting my running l

Holly Nicklas is a PPM Apprentice at our office in The Maltings. Along with her fellow apprentices, she’s been busy organising a range of fundraising events in aid of our four chosen charities for this year: Hull Homeless Community Project, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Aaron’s Battle. Following a fantastic Fun Day that was held at our Bridgehead branch, which raised over £300, a bake sale was set up at The Maltings for colleagues to enjoy a sweet treat in exchange for a small donation. “Our bake sale spread consisted of muffins, vegan and glute free cupcakes, chocolate cake, doughnuts, cookies and flapjack,” says Holly. “The day went really well, as we had plenty of delicious baked goods to sell and our co-workers kindly donated money to our four amazing charities. It was great fun too.” Our apprenticeship scheme combines specific responsibilities with mentoring, development days and the gaining of valuable qualifications. With sixteen app
