Cash for Kids – Mission Christmas!
Staff at our Maltings
offices in Hull are getting into the festive spirit by supporting a very worthy
cause. Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio’s network of local charities in 22 areas
across the UK, with activity in Hull and East Yorkshire being delivered by Viking
FM. The mission of this fantastic organisation is to support children through
fundraising and exciting opportunities, enabling them to live life to the full
and achieve their potential.
Using the power of radio,
each Cash for Kids charity encourages individuals and businesses to get
involved in all kinds of activity, which supports the creation and development
of initiatives in local communities that brighten the lives of sick,
underprivileged and disadvantaged children of all ages. Over the years the
charity has raised huge amounts of much-needed cash, and in 2017 alone 709,000
children benefitted from £23 million raised and donated by those who are
passionate about child welfare and education.
Ben Stathers, a Team Leader
at The Maltings, is delighted that three members of his team have kindly took
it upon themselves to support this crucial charity. Lauren Spencer, Laura Acey and
Rachel Smith are collecting toys for the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas
campaign and would love it if fellow employees could get involved.
The idea is very
straightforward yet will have a huge impact, especially if multiple people at
The Maltings take part. Simply bring in a toy that you think will bring a smile
to a young face on Christmas morning, which will then be distributed to
children throughout the region.
There are some guidelines to
bear in mind when choosing your toy, ensuring that it will definitely be given
to a child at this special time of year:
-- Any gifts that are suitable from birth to 18 years old are
accepted.
-- Food and chocolate cannot be accepted for health and safety
reasons.
-- The gift should be brand new and shop-bought.
-- The gift should be unwrapped so that Cash for Kids volunteers can
assign it to the right age group.
-- Clothes are accepted as long as they’re brand new, shop-bought and
include all the original safety and washing tags.
-- If the toy requires batteries but doesn’t include them, we’d be
very grateful if you could please purchase a fresh pack and tape it to the box.
Lauren, Laura and Rachel are
also accepting rolls of wrapping paper, as Cash for Kids will pass them on to
parents and carers so that they can wrap all of these special gifts. Our closing date for bringing in toys, clothing and wrapping paper is Friday 7 December, giving the charity
enough time to organise and distribute everything in time for Christmas Day.
Ben’s team can be found in the far corner of the Gleadow Dibb room, so please do pop down to see
them and take anything you can. Every donation will be hugely appreciated and ensure
that a local child in need has a Christmas to remember.
It’s also worth bearing in
mind that the charity often struggles with collecting enough gifts for babies
and teenage boys, so whilst every donation is amazing, presents for these age
ranges are in particularly high demand.
