Over £1,000 Raised by our Hull 10K and Half Marathon Teams
Surely the only thing more fulfilling than raising money for a
worthy cause is improving your personal fitness in the process. That’s why
numerous team members from our Maltings, Bridgehead and Citadel offices took
part in this year’s fantastic Hull10K and Half Marathon.
With the sun shining and countless people filling the streets to
cheer on the runners, it really was a brilliant day for everyone involved. Many
of our employees beat their personal bests and targets, resulting in a lot of
celebration and happy faces afterwards.
We’re very proud of our SGS Packaging Europe team members for
taking part and raising much-needed funds for worthy causes. In total, the
three offices donated a whopping £1,315 by committing spare time and tons of effort
to a fun challenge.
Whilst the amount raised is fantastic, our office at The Maltings
has set itself a personal target of £1,150 for next year’s event, so we’re sure
that Bridgehead and Citadel will take this as inspiration and follow their lead.
If all three offices reached this goal, the combined amount would be at least £3,450!
The Hull 10K and Half Marathon are organised by the ASDA Foundation
and take place alongside each other. The next edition is on Sunday 2 June 2019
and we want to see as many of our staff take part as possible, so get in touch
with Jodie Wilson if you’re interested: Jodie.wilson@sgsco.com
As well as The Maltings having its own target, there’s also a
stipulation that each runner must raise a minimum of £50. That’s certainly not
the limit, so please do aim for as much as possible! Fundraising is a lot
easier when you share the news with friends and family and post links on your
social media channels – be as creative and proactive as possible and we
guarantee you’ll get great results.
Anyone wishing to participate can choose which event they prefer,
as they both take place on the same day. The Half Marathon sets off at 9am and
the 10K at 9:45am, each starting and finishing in Alfred Gelder Street and
taking in a number of Hull’s cultural and historic landmarks, such as Hull Minster,
The Deep and Queen’s Gardens. As luck would have it, they both go down Citadel
Way, so you can wave to the office as you pass by.
We’re
accepting runners on a first come, first served basis, as we only have 23
places available. In other words, making sure you get on the list is a race in
itself! We’ll then let you know about the fundraising pages once they’re live
and support you through our social media channels.
The
Hull 10K and Half Marathon are a really enjoyable dual event and people of all
abilities are welcome to take part. Many runners do it in fancy dress and wigs,
plus we’ll provide a personalised T-shirt with your team name on it so that
your friends and family can easily spot you on the day.
We
also organise some bonuses for our corporate teams, with 2018’s event including
an indoor waiting area to relax and store gear before and after the race,
sandwiches afterwards to restore your energy, and a free social night with
buffet to meet fellow corporate runners and compete over a quiz (well done to
Bridgehead on their victory). Make
sure to get in touch with Jodie ASAP if you want to run for charity in 2019!
