Working from Home: Liam is Busy in the Kitchen
Liam Smith is a Reprographic Artworker at SGS The Maltings. Like his colleagues, he is currently working from home to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and stay safe and healthy. His home office set up (above) is wonderful, with plenty of room to work and even take care of forty seedlings, which he believes is great for his mental wellbeing.
Liam says that he’s making sure to stick to his usual working hours and is enjoying a little lie-in each morning due to not having to travel to work for the time being. He then treats himself to a homecooked breakfast, such as pancakes (which are his favourite) with bacon, bananas or whatever takes his fancy as a topping. Liam also prepares a fresh lunch each day, as he’s a big fan of creating tasty and nutritious meals from scratch.
With this in mind, when he’s not doing his daily tasks, Liam keeps busy in the kitchen. He says he’s missing chatting with his colleagues in the office, although Virtual Cuppa Breaks are a good way of staying in touch with everyone at sgsco.
During his lunch hour, rather than just relaxing, Liam eats his lunch and then pops into the garden, which he also does when the working day is done:
“I cannot recommend this enough for people’s mental health, especially when the plants start growing, as it gives an amazing sense of accomplishment. Going for a run or a bike ride is also a good idea if you’re able to keep your distance from others. Plus, I’ve found that reducing my food waste by freezing leftovers is a good way to make ingredients last longer. This combination helps me to keep on top of both my physical fitness and mental wellbeing.”
Liam loves cooking and baking so much that he has an Instagram account called Kitchen.28. Here you can find a huge range of inspiring creations, with recent dishes being BBQ pulled jackfruit quesadilla, chocolate porridge with frozen berry compote, tomato and ricotta puff pastry, and a delectable chocolate raspberry tart. We love checking out what Liam has been whipping up in the kitchen and he’s also building a website where he can share his recipes. A big fan of healthy eating, clean cuisine, homemade dishes and food styling, we can’t wait for him to launch the site and try out some of his recommendations.
It’s fantastic to see how Liam and many other sgsco colleagues are keeping busy during the lockdown. Working from home can make it very easy to simply watch TV after work, yet many of our staff are investing time in new and old hobbies, getting plenty of exercise, helping neighbours and staying positive, all while completing a day’s work as efficiently as ever.
We’d love to hear how you’re making the most of working from home, so if you’d like to share anything please tag us in your pics on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
