You Can Help a Young Sportsman Follow His Dream

Danni Monk is a Project Manager at our vibrant offices in The Maltings. Meanwhile, her 14-year-old son Will has been playing rugby league since he was five for the East Hull community team and was selected for the Sentamu Academy Scholarship team when he was eleven. More recently, Will received the fantastic news that he’d been accepted onto a two-year scholarship with Hull Kingston Rovers. All of this means that he has to train six days a week in order to further develop his skills and be the best player possible, which is no mean feat.
“He originally got into rugby because I grew up around it (it’s hard not to in Hull) and thought it would be a good sport for him to learn,” says Danni. “Following years of devoted practice, he was scouted by Hull KR when they attended a few of his games and offered him a scholarship based on his excellent performance.”
In recognition of Will’s commitment, he has also been offered the opportunity to go on a three-week trip touring Australia in 2020, which will enable him to train and play with professionals clubs on the other side of the world. The cost for this is £4,000, so Danni can often be found running fundraising days and special events alongside her son.
“Whilst in Australia, he’ll get to spend time with local families, continue his schooling and hopefully catch the attention of scouts who are present at the games. If anyone would like to add a little to our fundraiser, we’d be very grateful if you could please visit our GoFundMepage.”
“We’re always looking for donations to raffles and auctions too,” adds Danni, “and any businesses who want to get involved can take out a corporate sponsorship package to suit their budget.”
Needless to say, Will’s family are all fully on board and support his ambitious plans in as many ways as possible: “We are very proud parents and so glad that his dedication and hard work has paid off for him. It’s not an easy game to play and it has been his dream for a very long time to become a professional Super League rugby player. Hopefully this will put him on the right path and enable him to achieve his dream.”

Every pound added to the fundraiser will help a young lad to follow his dream, so why not pop over and add something to the pot?
