Happy Engagement to Karina and Aaron!

There’s always good news to be shared at SGS Packaging Europe, from a new intake of apprentices across our offices, to a team taking part in a charity event, but it’s especially heart-warming when a colleague shares a personal celebration with us.

Karina Briggs is a Project Manager at SGS The Maltings, having joined our company back in mid-2018. We were delighted when Karina came to work one day and told everyone that her boyfriend had popped the question. She and Aaron met at Wilberforce College in 2009 whilst taking a two-year course in Media. During this time they worked together on some projects and became good friends, which led to them officially dating in January 2012.

Fast forward eight years and Karina is an established team member at SGS whilst Aaron works at a company called Industrial Supplies as a counter sales assistant, carrying out multiple additional roles around the building as well. For Karina’s birthday, they went out to enjoy a meal and when they arrived home she popped upstairs. When she came back down, she found Aaron kneeling in the dining room.

“It was a massive surprise,’ says Karina. “After him asking if I would marry him, I asked if he was joking. It took me a moment to realise he was being very serious and that's when all the waterworks started! It was such a massive shock but a lovely and memorable way to end my birthday.”

So far the newly engaged couple don’t have any plans for the wedding, but there are some themes that could be worked into the big day: “We honestly have no idea what we’ll go for yet, we haven’t come up with any ideas or had a chat about it. However, we’re both big ice hockey fans and support Hull Pirates, who are Hull’s main team, so it would be nice to be able to incorporate that somehow, maybe as a cake topper. Who knows!”

We’re so happy for Karina and Aaron and wish them the very best with their upcoming wedding plans. We particularly can’t wait to see how that cake turns out!
